Phil Simborg is a highly-respected backgammon player and teacher, with over 20 years and hundreds of students to attest to his teaching skills. Many of Phil’s current and former students are no amongst the best players in their countries, and even can be counted amongst the Giants.
Phil is also the No. 1 lecturer in the U.S. and has published over 100 backgammon articles. He assisted in the development and marketing of eXtremGammon and offers tutorials on its use. He is a co-developer of BG Opening Ceremony, which is an excellent guide to understanding early game play. He is also a co-founder and developer of the MindGamesCenter which offers lessons and exercises to players of all levels from many of the top teachers and players in the world, including himself. Phil has placed as high as No. 2 on the American Backgammon Tour and is currently listed as one of the top 64 Giants of Backgammon in a world-wide voting of the top players.
Phil is one of the founders of the US Backgammon Federation and an the official Teaching Pro of the USBGF. He is perhaps the game’s only “full-time” backgammon teacher with students all over the world that he teaches via Webex and if you ask Phil what he is most proud of in his backgammon career, he will tell you,
